Another HYROX Race in the Books!

This one was a little different for me. Going into the race, I wasn’t at 100%. I’ve been dealing with an arm injury that has limited some of my training and definitely wasn’t ideal for an event like HYROX. But I was healthy enough to compete, so I decided to show up and give it what I had.

And I’m glad I did.

Stepping Up to the Pro Division

This time around, I decided to take on the HYROX Pro Division.

The Pro Division increases the challenge with heavier weights on several of the stations. Between the running, sled push, sled pull, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, and everything else HYROX throws at you, it makes for a pretty demanding race.

Add an arm injury into the equation, and I knew going in that this probably wasn’t going to be the race where I chased my best possible time.

Instead, the goal was simple: get out there and complete it.

Mission accomplished.

Sometimes Showing Up Is the Win

I’m naturally competitive, especially with myself. When I enter a race, I want to see what I’m capable of and push for a time I can be proud of.

But not every race has to be about setting a PR.

Sometimes the victory is simply being able to stand at the starting line, compete with what you have that day, and finish what you started.

My arm wasn’t going to be an excuse to sit this one out. I adjusted my expectations, competed within what I could do, and made it through the Pro Division.

There’s something satisfying about knowing that even when the circumstances aren’t perfect, you can still find a way to get the job done.

I’ll Be Back

Overall, it was a good race and another great HYROX experience.

I’m happy to have completed my first go at the Pro Division, but I also know there’s a lot more there.

The next step is getting my arm completely healthy, getting back to training at full capacity, and coming into the next one ready to really go after it.

Next time, the goal won’t simply be to finish the Pro Division.

It’ll be to see how fast I can do it.

For now, though, I’m grateful.

Grateful that I was healthy enough to compete. Grateful for another opportunity to challenge myself. And grateful to add another race and another experience to the journey.

Another HYROX down.

On to the next challenge!
