Sandy has always had an interest in biomechanics and the way the body moves, beginning with
her early career as an athlete and competing as a team member in swimming, tennis, and track
and field, and more recently as a Triathlon participant. This interest prompted her to earn her
bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the University of California at Irvine. Upon graduation
she spent several years in the corporate world while starting her fitness career teaching group
fitness classes at many well-known gyms on the weekends. It was here that she uncovered her
passion for helping seniors realize the tangible benefits of strength training – both mental and
physical, and it was also here where she discovered fulfillment and her own true calling as a
full-time fitness professional and instructor.
Today, Sandy is a nationally certified personal trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, and
aqua fitness instructor. She has spent time in Europe, Mexico and China, and she currently
teaches chair yoga, seated strength training, and chair aerobics at many retirement communities
in her area. She also uses her expertise to work with people in the pool, a personal favorite for
her — as people with limited range of motion and ability find a new “life” in the water, often
seeing amazing results in strength and flexibility. She is currently working towards a national
certification as an exercise therapist and works with many assisted living and memory care
centers. She is also a physical education program designer and advisor.
Sandy is dedicated to serving seniors and encouraging them to keep building strength,
improving balance, and challenging themselves to make each workout their own personal best
and obtain observable results while having fun. She firmly believes that staying active and
staying healthy through exercise is the key to not only living longer and feeling better — but living
longer and feeling better independently.
When asked what she loves most about fitness, her answer is always the same….”It’s the
people – building relationships and having the privilege of personally knowing these wonderful
individuals that have lived so much life and have so much to offer. I treasure the time I get to
spend with them. They’re like family to me!”
Sandy lives in the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona with her 5 children, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles
and 1 husband.
Sandy joined the Kev’s Gym team in March of 2021 and serves our clients in Phoenix, AZ. Want to book an appointment with Sandy? Click here!
