The National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT)
The National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT) was started in Southern California by John Platero in September of 1995, when he was promoted to Director of Personal Training for a chain of health clubs called LA Fitness. The NCCPT certification is an National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) Accrediated Program. The NCCPT is a full affiliate of the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE). In addition, the NCCPT program, its instructors, and curriculum have been reviewed and approved as continuing education providers by three other certifications: Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
