Healthy Body AND Mind
To understand the immeasurable, the mind must be extraordinarily quiet, still. – Jiddu Krishnamurti
Meditation is like a workout for your mind.. each time you do it your “mental muscles” of calmness, insight, perspective, purpose, and gratitude grow!
I try to meditate for 5-30 minutes a day. Focusing solely on the present moment: your breathing, the wind at your face, the waves crashing, birds chirping, etc. on a regular basis will help to put your mind at ease and allow you to better manage the sometimes chaotic and stressful lives that we live.
After meditating, I reflect on things I am grateful for.. Anything from health and family, to the ability to take in breath and enjoy the beauty of nature.
The hardest part about meditation, especially if you have a lot on your mind, is that you will have thoughts pop up and then start thinking about work, a relationship, what you have to do today, maybe something from the past, etc. When this happens, tell yourself to focus just on the present, and listen to yourself breathe. Inhale for a set number of seconds through the nose, and exhale for 2x as long through the mouth.
Do this everyday for 1-2 weeks, and you’ll be much more calm and at ease about any of the stressors in your life.
Give it a try! (Normally I’m telling you to do burpees, jump squats, pushups.. come on this is easy.. sit down, take a second for yourself and breathe!) #yoga #meditation #mindfulness #healthymind
