Chair Yoga
Chair yoga allows those who require or prefer the support of a chair to experience the many benefits of yoga without having to get up and down from the floor. Students will explore versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, backbends, meditation, and diaphragmatic breathing exercises. Our chair yoga class helps participants relax their bodies, reduce stress, cultivate mindfulness and inner peace, and improve their overall flexibility, strength, range of motion, and balance. Being calmer and more relaxed inevitably leads to a greater feeling of happiness and well-being, which everyone can benefit from!
Seated Exercise: Sit and Be Fit!
This full-body seated workout targets all major muscle groups with a variety of strength and conditioning exercises. Participants can expect a series of body-weight exercises targeting the shoulders, arms, core, and legs. These exercises are all functional in nature, and are intended to build and maintain strength to facilitate day-to-day motions, allow for greater control of the body, and to prevent falls. We also incorporate a cardio aspect which promotes heart health and weight loss. From running in place and leg raises, to bicycle pedaling and dancing, we do our best to get those hearts beating so that they can be strong for many years to come! After the strength training and cardio portions of the workout, we also include 15-20 minutes of flexibility. Each major muscle group is stretched to improve mobility for day-to-day activities such as reaching down to tie shoe laces, picking things up off the floor, holding groceries, etc.
Seated/Standing Dance:
Zumba Gold: Ditch the workout, and join the party in this fun, upbeat, and lively dance class! Set to upbeat salsa, merengue, and reggaetón music, our Zumba Gold classes offer easy-to-follow dance moves that will improve range of motion, balance, and coordination all while allowing you to work up a sweat!
Belly Dancing: Belly dancing is a popular art form that originated from the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean regions. It is performed as a dance of celebration that brings communities of people together for not only important events like weddings and festivals, but also for day-to-day joys of an impromptu dance party at home. Belly dancing is not only an excellent form of low-impact exercise, but also a wonderful way to relieve stress and make new connections. This belly dancing class will cover fundamental dance technique with a focus on improving strength, endurance, and flexibility in a safe, fun, and non-competitive environment.
Seated Tai Chi:
Our seated Tai Chi classes offer relaxation and meditation through a series of gentle and slow-paced graceful movements. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements – connecting the mind and body.
Seated Tai Chi is a great exercise option for seniors or those with limited mobility and will improve flexibility, sleep, happiness, strength, cardiovascular endurance, concentration, and much more!
